Can I Use a URL Shortener in Text Messages?

When creating automated messages, cleaning tasks, or weekly reminders, you have the option to send via SMS text message. Text messages are subject to carrier rules, which are not controlled by Guesty For Hosts.

US carrier policies strongly discourage the use of shared public URL shorteners, for example TinyUrl or Bitly links, due to the frequency of use by spammers, scammers and other bad actors. The use of these public shared shorteners will result in higher risk of filtering, with no recourse if filtering does occur.

It is recommended to stop using free URL shorteners since they can easily be replicated and carriers consider that a way to impersonate a business. Instead, use a paid URL shortener service that can incorporate your business domain.
