Collecting and Remitting Taxes for Vrbo Reservations

This content is relevant for the Vrbo Upgraded Connection. If you are on the Standard Connection, see articles here. If you are not sure which connection you are on, see here.

As a Vrbo user who is integrated with third-party software such as the Guesty For Hosts upgraded connection, you are collecting the guest's payment directly via your Stripe account. This makes you the merchant of record. Therefore, you are responsible for collecting and remitting taxes. Vrbo will only collect the service fee. See more details from Vrbo here.

Vrbo listings are synced with your Airbnb listing settings in Guesty For Hosts. See more information here about managing your taxes in Guesty For Hosts.

Important for Users who Migrated from Vrbo Standard Connection:

  • On the standard connection, Vrbo was the merchant of record and collected/remitted taxes
  • On the upgraded connection, you are the merchant of record and must now collect/remit taxes
