Before You Begin
Protect your property from any possible damage or misuse with Deposit Management feature. Before setting this up, please note the following:
The Security Deposit Management feature can be used for Booking.com and direct booking website reservations.
For the direct booking website you must be collecting payment via Stripe. If you are using Paypal the Security Deposit Management will not be collected.
Security Deposit Management is not available for Vrbo upgraded connection.
Important:
If at any point your Guesty For Hosts account is suspended or canceled, security deposits for active reservations that were created while your account was active will still be processed.
Connect Your Stripe Account
Create Deposit Management Rule
Important:
If a reservation is made after the authorization date set in the steps below, the deposit management rule will not be applied and you must collect the deposit manually through Stripe.
- Sign in to your Guesty For Hosts account.
- In the top menu, click Menu.
- Under "More Features", click Security Deposit.
- Click Create New Deposit Rule.
- Select deposit type.

Authorize: Stripe will put a hold on the credit card for deposit.
- For this option, the deposit amount is released and recaptured every 7 days.
- Charge: Deposit will be transferred to your Stripe account. Stripe may charge a transaction fee.

- Enter deposit amount.
- Select authorization date: X number of days before check-in.
- Select release date: X number of days after check-out.
- Click Continue.
- Select the platform: Booking.com, Direct booking website, or both.
- Ensure your Stripe account is properly connected for the platform selected as per above section.
- Select the listing(s).
- If a listing already has a deposit rule set, it will not appear as an option.
- Click Continue.
- Review the Summary page to confirm the details are accurate.
- Click Confirm.
Deposit Management Flow
Important:
For the "Authorize" deposit type, the deposit amount is released and recaptured every 7 days.
- You receive a new reservation from Booking.com or your direct booking website created by Guesty For Hosts.
- Guest submits a valid credit card.
- Depending on your settings, we authorize/charge the deposit X days before the check-in.
- You receive a notification email with a link for deposit management page.
- If nothing is reported, we will release the deposit Y days after check-out.
- You receive an email after we release, partly or entirely capture the deposit.
Tip:
We suggest you check the charges/releases regularly on your Stripe account.
Disable Deposit Management Rule
- Sign in to your Guesty For Hosts account.
- In the top menu, click Menu.
- Under "More Features", click Security Deposit.
- To the right of the relevant rule, turn the toggle off.
